Manatee Pride brings out more than a thousand people every year.
WFLA’s 8 On Your Side covered the 7th annual Manatee Pride, a festival that draws more than a thousand people every year. Crowds packed Rossi Park for vendors, food, and drag performers, and many people told the station the celebration was needed more than ever.
Organizer Craig Kaplan said booths offered support materials so adults and children could learn where to go for resources, which he called vital for LGBTQ+ kids as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill headed to a vote in the Florida Senate. “Teachers are supposed to be there to nurture students,” he said.
