One Year After Milton, ALSO Youth Reopens at a New Location

Sarasota Magazine ·

The entrance of ALSO Youth's Sarasota Center on Ringling Boulevard: white columns, arched windows, and a red tile roof.
A year after Hurricane Milton destroyed its Sarasota Center, ALSO Youth reopens in a new space.

A year after Hurricane Milton tore the roof off ALSO Youth’s Sarasota Center in the Rosemary District, Sarasota Magazine toured our new home at 2195 Ringling Blvd. The space of about 2,000 square feet, once a car dealership, now has a quiet room, a resource closet stocked with donated clothes, and walls filling up with youth art. The public opening was a community brunch on Saturday, October 11, 2025, National Coming Out Day.

The story walks through a week at the center, from support groups on Mondays and Tuesdays to homework help on Thursdays and fun nights on Fridays, and shares the counseling numbers: 917 sessions for 64 young people over the past year, with about three days from intake to a first appointment. Executive Director Annie Berkness thanked the individual donors who made the comeback possible: “Your dollars matter.”
