Watermark reported on the launch of ALSO Jr., a program for LGBTQ+ youth ages 10 to 12. Mickey Stone, who became Executive Director in June 2021 after decades as an educator, made it a priority after hearing from parents and family members of younger kids who needed a place of their own.

A run of grants that fall made it possible: $23,920 from the Warnell Fund and the McCauley-Brown Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, $10,000 from the Here4Youth Initiative, $12,000 through the Manatee Community Foundation, and $69,190 from the Greenfield Foundation to grow ALSO Jr. into a weekly program at both centers. Together they also let ALSO begin one-on-one counseling for youth ages 10 to 24, in person and online.
